'Ohana

The OluKai Ho’olaule’a is more than just a race; it is a family-friendly destination event for visitors and locals alike. We encourage you to bring your ‘ohana and join others in the community to share the collective gifts of time, energy, and spirit.

Whether you’re participating in the race, cheering on a friend or family member, or simply joining the community in celebration, you’re invited to enjoy free cultural activities, live music, and food.

'Ohana Fun Paddle

This non-timed, non-competitive 3-mile fun paddle is a great way for paddlers of all skill levels to experience a portion of the legendary Maliko downwind run. Whether you prefer prone paddleboard, SUP, surfski, or outrigger canoe - all human-powered ocean craft are allowed to participate. $30 entry fee includes luau dinner, event t-shirt and a donation to our 'Ohana Giveback Program benefiting Maui Cultural Lands and Hawaii's Junior Lifeguard Program.

Luau Dinner

Join us at Kanaha Beach Park for a traditional luau dinner at Lae ‘Ula O Kai Canoe Hale following the SUP race on Saturday, May 12. Enjoy traditional foods such as poi, kalua pig, and poke, while soaking up the ambiance of beautiful Kanaha Beach Park. Luau dinner is included in race entry fee, or $10 for non-racers. Proceeds go to support our 'Ohana Giveback Partners; Maui Cultural Lands, and Hawaii’s Junior Lifeguard Program.

Ocean & Land Activities

Experience the thrill of riding in Team OluKai’s championship sailing canoe, drop into a wave in a 4-man surfing canoe, or demo the latest SUP equipment from the island’s top manufacturers. Challenge your friends and family to a test of skill with ancient Hawaiian games hosted by Maui cultural lands, learn about the medicinal and cultural importance of native plant species, or just sit back and enjoy live music and entertainment with family. All of these activities are free to enjoy by all.

Live Music & Entertainment

Enjoy variety of entertainment throughout Saturday afternoon. Hula performances, cultural entertainment, and live music from local musicians will give way to a very special musical performance at 4:00pm. Arrive early and enjoy the entire day’s festivities!

Giving Back

Part of the proceeds raised benefit the OluKai ‘Ohana Giveback Program; beneficiaries include Maui Cultural Lands and Hawaii’s Junior Lifeguard Program.

Maui Cultural Lands is a grassroots-based land trust organization, whose mission is to stabilize, protect, and restore Hawaiian cultural resources. MCL is currently working to restore and reforest the Honokowai Valley and Kaanapali area with native and endemic species, as well as preserve and stabilize archeological sites for future generations. MCL operates on the basis of volunteerism. We encourage you to get involved.

The Hawaiian Lifeguard Association is comprised of some of the most respected and proficient lifesavers in the world. These watermen pass down their knowledge and culture to the Junior Lifeguard Program, which introduces water safety, first aid and surf rescue techniques to thousands of kids throughout the Hawaiian islands. The result is safer beaches, greater self-confidence, and more fun for locals and tourists alike.
