When Walls Turn into Murals

“The design of this pattern was meant to evoke a sense of movement and immediacy in the brushstrokes and still point back home – to Hawai‘i,” says POW! WOW! Hawai‘i artist Matthew Tapia. “Each piece of the pattern represents an element or part of Hawai‘i and its culture, whether in the monstera leaves, the sun, the waves, the piko or Diamond Head.”

Founded in Hawai‘i by Jasper Wong and Kamea Hadar, POW! WOW! is a weeklong art event in Honolulu, where local and international artists create live art installations on building walls. Join us at POW! WOW! Hawai‘i to check out this exclusive collection and watch Matthew Tapia transform a wall into a work of art.
